Knife care and maintenance

Knife care

N&L Knives quality and reliability. Our knives will last a long time with proper operation. Proper care and maintenance will help the knife stay in excellent condition and last for many years.

Maintenance

The liners and locking mechanisms N&L Knives are made of Bohler N690 (stainless steel, cobalt-enriched, which improves wear resistance and edge retention of the steel in addition to ensuring a uniform grain structure) or frames made of titanium alloy BT-6 with the use of a steel insert “Biscuit” and therefore does not require any maintenance. The blades are also mostly made of stainless steel grades, but if the blade is made of carbon steel, then a light coating of WD40 on the blade will help to ensure rust resistance.

For comfortable operation of the locking mechanism and a pleasant “flip”, it is necessary from time to time to lubricate the fixing ball “Detend Ball” with a VERY small drop of oil (for example, from the end of a toothpick).

Do not overuse the knife: never use your knife as a chisel, pry bar, or screwdriver. Never drop your knife – it is not designed for these actions. To maintain comfortable cutting properties, do not attempt to sharpen the knife on a power-driven grinding wheel. It is also better not to use sharpeners designed for inexpensive Cutlery. The recommended sharpening angle is 20 degrees per side.
